Happy Days in Wisconsin

Sunday Monday… Happy Days in Wisconsin is every day when you can rock nostalgia.

Because when the TV writers chose to channel a longing for the homely 1950s for their 70s audience they opted for Milwaukee.

In large part because executive producer Thomas L Miller hailed from Brew City.

And so the Milky Way drive-in on Port Washington Road in Glendale was repurposed as Fonzie hang-out Arnold’s.

It’s now home to Kopp’s Frozen Custard… and we think roly-poly Arnold would approve.

Those were the Days

Jukebox cheerie: Fonzie

With Happy Days spawning fourish spin-offs (Out of the Blue is moot) Wisconsin was truly on the international map.

And teens growing up on the other end of the world grew aware of Milwaukee’s rich brewing history through Laverne & Shirley.

And other worlds through Robin Williams’ breakout show of his own Mork & Mindy though relocated to Boulder, Colorado.

All of which trip down Memory Lane is because eyeballs are back on the Dairy (and Waterpark) State as we bask in a new wave of nostalgia.

We’ve moved on, of course… and the 90s are the new 70s which were the new 50s (bear with us here).
