Royal balcony room for a few Bucks more

And because they need the moolah the Windsors are opening up another part of their palace.. the royal balcony room, and all for a few Bucks more.

Now for all you royalists out there this is a chance to see the very rooms the pampered princes and princesses get to prepare themselves for their walk out on to the balcony.

And you can guided tours of the royal residence’s east wing.

And look out from the front facade which faces The Mall where crowds assemble to pay homage to the Windsors.

As the Brits have been doing since 1849 when Queen Victoria’s growing family looked down on their subjects.

Royal summer

Dancing in the aisles: In Buck House

The wing’s principal floor will be open in July and August following more than five years of improvements, which cost £369 million.

East wing tours are available only as part of a visit to Buck palace’s state rooms.

They cost £75 for adults. Admission to state rooms only is £35, with a £3 discount if booked in advance.

Tours will take visitors through rooms and spaces including the principal corridor, running the length of the wing.

Where you’ll be able to gaze at paintings from the likes of Thomas Gainsborough.

Centre of excellence

Marching in time: On the Mall

The centre room which leads on to the balcony, will be your last stop.

But don’t get ahead of yourself, the public will not been able to step onto the balcony…

You’ll have to marry into the family for that.

Highlights in this room include a newly restored glass chandelier, shaped as a lotus flower.

And two Chinese 18th-century imperial silk wall hangings.

Presented to Victoria by Guangxu, emperor of China, to mark her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

Tickets for a limited number of East Wing Highlights Tours to run daily from July 15 to August 31, go on sale from April 9.

Now I don’t expect to be getting the call to the palace any time soon.

But some who have served their country with honour like the dearly-missed father-in-law ‘Casey Jones’ have been inside the hallowed halls.

With Herself and the mother-in-law, so they’ll know their way around.

For the rest of us plebs who want to see it.. it will be the Royal balcony room for a few Bucks more.
