It’s a small world but a big enterprise and that’s what sets it apart.. Ja wee beauty it’s Germany’s biggest attraction.
For those jumping to point out that Cologne Cathedral regularly tops the list of most visited site, das gut .
But the findings we bring you bigging up the Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg are straight from from our freunde at the German travel board.
So between March and July, more than 25,000 users from more than 20 countries were asked to nominate the most recommendable tourist destinations.
And they chose our old favourite, the Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg.
Made in Germany

Last year’s winner, Europa Park was second and Phantasialand in Brühl stayed third.
Followed by the Nürburgring, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the Berlin capital, the new Deutschlandmuseum in Berlin, which opened in 2023.
The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth, the Erding Thermal Spa, and Eltz Castle in Wierschem.

And, of course, some of our stand-outs are on the list too, but not as high as we’d put them such as Neuschwanstein Castle and Dresden.
While I’d also put Oberammergau in there too.
Growing a shrinking world

Now back to Miniatur Wunderland, and they say that we increasingly live in a shrinking world and Hamburg‘s model network is always expanding.
With just last year South America added to the display, so we’re looking at a miniature Christ the Redeemer then and a micro Machu Picchu, among others.
While fans of Monte Carlo were excited to see the Monaco section opening this past May.
So that’s superyachts, casinos and the Formula 1 racetrack.
And for those of you who like a stats attack, the section took over 150,000 hours of work and cost €5 million to build.
Hummel Hamburg

Now for those of you who have only ever gone to the Reeperbahn in Hamburg then yes, it’s great craic.
But if you leave Hamburg without checking out the Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg then you’ll be missing a little gem.
And for something on a bigger scale, with spectacular views, you should also visit the Elbphilharmonie, or Elphi, as it is known to the locals, which is also on the list.
And for a real insider’s tip, address a randomer with the greeting Hummel, which is how Hamburgers recognise each other anywhere in the world.
So all the world’s here as it should be… ja wee beauty it’s Germany’s biggest attraction, Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg.
