Devon must be missing an angel

With apologies to Seventies stars Tavares but Devon must be missing an angel… my angel whose first bolt out of lockdown will be the West Country in England.

It’s timely that a family wedding is drawing her back to her homeland just at a time when Devon has never been more in vogue.

Life’s a pitch

Take a dip

With The Queen herself championing Devon and the Devonian way with her admission that she favours cream on jam which we discussed.

Were you paying attention? Well, we know our old friends at Pitchup.com were.

Best seat in the house

And with good reason as they have another good reason to laud it over their Cornwall neighbours.

Because Devon has only overtaken Cornwall for the first time in listings for campsites.

Life’s a beach

So what do we put this all down to?

Well, it’s partly down to the relaxation of permitted development rights.

And so landowners can now open up temporary sites without having to apply for full planning permission/licences.

Fun on the water

And Devon has a far greater land mass to host those.

So as a sample Pitchup is offering Andrewshayes Caravan Park in Axminster from £23.50 a night.

Set among the Blackdown Hills seven miles from the Jurassic Coast.

Nice and cosy

They have a covered pool, adventure playground and soft play.

And what we all want to hear… a bar, cafe and takeaway in the school holidays.

Devon must be missing an angel but my creme de la creme is coming.

Get the campfire burning… she might even bring her voice too.
